Privacy Policy

Fawna ("Fawna", "we", "us") is an AI video and storyboard workspace available at fawna.ai. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. If anything here is unclear, email us at [email protected].

The short version: we collect what we need to run your account, process your generations, and bill you correctly. We do not sell your data, we do not run advertising, and we do not use your content to train AI models.

1. Information we collect

Account information

When you create an account we collect your email address and a password (stored only as a salted hash). If you sign up with Google, we receive your email address and basic profile information (such as your name and avatar) from Google instead of a password. You can also set a display name and username.

Billing information

Payments are handled by Stripe, our payment processor. Your card number goes directly to Stripe and never touches our servers. We store your subscription plan, billing status, credit balance and credit history, and Stripe's reference identifiers so we can grant credits, apply upgrades and downgrades, and reconcile charges.

Content you create and upload

Fawna stores the content you make and the material you bring: scripts, prompts, projects, storyboards, scenes and shots, timelines, canvases, generated images, video, voiceover and audio, voice settings, styles, and any files you upload, including reference images (which may contain faces) and audio. Uploaded and generated media is private by default; see Public content for what changes when you choose to publish.

Generation and usage records

Each AI generation you run creates a usage record: the operation type, the model used, the credits charged, whether it succeeded or failed, timing, and the inputs sent to the model (such as the prompt). Our team can review these records through an internal dashboard. We use them to provide support when a generation goes wrong, to detect failures, and to verify that you were charged correctly, including refunding credits for failed generations.

Usage analytics

We collect analytics about how the product is used: pages visited, features used, and similar interaction events, along with basic visitor information such as pages viewed and approximate location derived from IP address. When you are signed in, this activity is associated with your account so we can understand usage per account. We use this to improve the product, not for advertising.

Support and communications

If you contact us (for example at [email protected]) we keep the correspondence so we can help you and improve support. If you join a waitlist we store the email you submit.

Log data

Like nearly every web service, our servers automatically record request logs: IP address, browser type, the pages requested, and timestamps. We use these for security, debugging, and abuse prevention.

2. How we use your information

• To provide the service: run your generations, store your projects and media, and keep you signed in.
• To bill you correctly: manage subscriptions and credit balances, detect failed generations, and refund credits that should not have been charged.
• To support you: investigate problems with your account or generations when you ask for help.
• To keep Fawna safe: detect abuse, enforce our Terms of Service, and protect the service and other users.
• To improve the product: understand which features are used and where people get stuck, via the analytics described above.
• To communicate with you: transactional email such as email verification, password resets, security notifications, and billing receipts.

We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not use your data for third-party advertising.

3. AI generation

The AI models on Fawna are hosted by third-party model providers. When you run a generation, the inputs needed for that generation (your prompt, and where relevant your reference images, character references, style plates, or audio) are sent to the provider hosting the model you selected, which processes them solely to produce your output. We access these providers under business and API terms that do not grant them the right to train their models on your content. Fawna does not use your prompts, uploads, or generated content to train AI models, ours or anyone else's.

4. Who we share data with

We share data only with the service providers we rely on to run Fawna, and only what each one needs to do its job. These fall into a few categories:

• Cloud infrastructure: hosting, databases, and media storage.
• Payment processing: your payment details and billing contact go to Stripe, our payment processor, not to us.
• Email delivery: your email address and the content of the transactional emails we send you.
• Analytics: the usage and visitor information described above.
• AI model providers: the generation inputs described in the AI generation section.

Each of these providers is bound by its own contractual and legal obligations, and none of them may use your data for their own purposes beyond providing the service to us.

Beyond these providers, we disclose personal information only if required by law, to protect the rights and safety of Fawna or others, or as part of a business transaction such as a merger or acquisition (in which case this policy continues to apply to your data until it is updated).

5. Cookies and analytics

We use a small number of cookies and similar technologies:

• Essential cookies: a session cookie that keeps you signed in and a CSRF cookie that protects forms from forgery. The site does not work without these.
• Analytics cookies: our analytics tools set cookies or local storage to recognize returning visitors and tie together events in a session.

We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Most browsers let you block or delete cookies; blocking the essential ones will prevent you from signing in.

6. Public content and remixing

Everything you make on Fawna is private by default. Nothing appears in Explore, on your profile, or anywhere public unless you explicitly publish it.

If you choose to make something public, it shows the prompt text, the model tier used, the final output, your public username, and the creation date. It does not show your reference images, negative prompts, private notes, email, name, or billing information. Other users can remix public work, which starts a new project in their account from your published prompt and settings, with attribution back to the original.

You can make published work private again at any time, which removes it from Explore and your profile.

7. Data retention and deletion

• Your content is kept for as long as your account exists, so your projects remain available to you.
• Deleted projects and storyboards go to a trash with a 30-day restore window, after which they are permanently deleted.
• Usage and billing records are retained for as long as needed for accounting, tax, and dispute purposes.
• Backups may retain copies of deleted data for a limited period before they cycle out.

To delete your account and its data, email [email protected] from your account email. We will delete your account and content, except for records we are required to keep (such as billing history).

8. Security

All traffic to Fawna is encrypted in transit with TLS. Your media is stored in private cloud storage and served through access-controlled URLs, not public links. Passwords are stored only as salted hashes. Access to internal tools that can view account data is restricted to the Fawna team and used for the support, billing, and safety purposes described above. No system is perfectly secure, but if we learn of a breach affecting your personal data we will notify you as required by law.

9. Your rights and choices

You can, at any time:

• Access and update your account information from your account settings.
• Download your content using the export features in the product.
• Delete projects, storyboards, and uploads yourself, or request full account deletion.
• Ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, or to correct or delete it, by emailing [email protected].

Depending on where you live, you may have additional legal rights over your personal data, such as those under the GDPR (European Economic Area and United Kingdom) or the CCPA (California), including rights to access, correction, deletion, portability, and objection to certain processing. We honor these requests regardless of where you live. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined in the CCPA. If you believe we have not resolved a concern, you may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

10. International transfers

Fawna is operated from the United States and our infrastructure is located in the United States. If you use Fawna from outside the US, your information is transferred to and processed in the US, where data protection laws may differ from those in your country.

11. Children

Fawna is not directed to children under 13, and you must be at least 13 to create an account. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13; if you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Fawna evolves. When we make material changes we will update the effective date at the top of this page and, for significant changes, notify you by email or in the product. Continued use of Fawna after a change means you accept the updated policy.
