General
What is Fawna?
Fawna is an AI creative studio for storytellers. It wraps premium video and image models behind branded tiers, adds a script-to-video flow (Scene Mode), a multi-track editor (Editor), and a few standalone utilities (Audio Generation, Background Remover). The goal is to move from idea to finished video faster than any combination of separate tools could.
Who is Fawna for?
Independent filmmakers, educators, marketers, YouTubers, indie game devs, writers, and anyone who tells stories with video and image. If your workflow involves writing a script and wanting moving pictures to go with it, Scene Mode saves you hours. If you want fine-grained control over shots, the Editor gives it to you.
Do I need an account?
Yes. Fawna tracks credits, saves your work, and manages your Library. Sign-up takes a minute; you get a small free allocation of credits to try things out.
Models and generation
Which model should I pick?
Start with Fawna Cinema for video (strong all-rounder) and Fawna Illustrate for image. If Cinema feels too neutral, try Motion. If you want photoreal, try Film. The Models overview has a decision matrix.
How long does a generation take?
Varies by tier and size. Rough expectations:
- Image (Illustrate Standard, 1 output): 5 to 15 seconds.
- Image (Compose, 1 output): 10 to 20 seconds.
- Video (Cinema, 6 seconds, 720p): 40 to 90 seconds.
- Video (Film, 8 seconds, 1080p): 2 to 5 minutes.
- Audio (narration, 500 characters): 1 to 3 seconds.
Can I use my generations commercially?
Yes, within the content policy. Generations you create are yours. You retain the rights to use them in commercial projects subject to each underlying provider's content policy (no trademarked characters, no deepfakes of real people without consent, etc.). Review the Terms of Service for specifics.
Can I generate a specific real person?
No. Fawna does not permit generating recognizable likenesses of real public or private individuals without their consent. Character-consistency workflows let you create original characters and keep them consistent across work.
Workflow
Should I start in Scene Mode or the Editor?
If you have a script and want a finished video, start in Scene Mode. Import to the Editor when you want to polish. If you already have footage or want to build up from individual generated clips, start in the Editor and use the Library to hold your assets.
How do I keep the same character across shots?
Build a character sheet in Fawna Compose first. Save 3 to 6 strong angles to Library. Attach those as references to every video generation that features the character. See the Character consistency page for the full workflow.
How do I export a finished video?
From the Editor, open the modal preview player and hit Download. Fawna captures the playback as a WebM file (VP9 + Opus, 5 Mbps). For higher-bitrate MP4 or ProRes exports, those options will appear in the timeline's export pipeline as it rolls out.
Billing
Do credits expire?
Plan-allocation credits reset each month (use it or lose it). Top-up credits you buy separately never expire.
Do I pay for failed generations?
No. Failures refund automatically within a few minutes.
Can I downgrade my plan mid-month?
Yes. Downgrade takes effect at the end of your current billing period. You keep full access until then. No refund for the unused portion, but top-up credits stay usable.
What happens when I cancel?
Your paid plan ends at the end of the current billing period. Your work and top-up credits stay. Plan-allocation credits are lost when the plan ends.
Common issues
My generation failed with a content-filter error.
Fawna sits behind the model providers' safety systems. If a prompt trips a filter, the generation fails and credits are refunded. Most common triggers: public figures, graphic violence, explicit adult content. Rephrase the prompt and retry. If you believe the filter is wrong, flag it via the error message to get it reviewed.
Why is my generation queued for a long time?
Provider-side queues fluctuate with overall demand. Peak hours (US business hours) can slow things down. If a job sits for more than 10 minutes, cancel and retry.
Why is a generation I started yesterday missing?
Generations are stored immediately, not pending. If a chat or storyboard is missing, check whether you accidentally deleted it (look in Trash in the Library). Deletions are hard by default.
Support
How do I get help?
In-app support is the fastest: the ? icon in the app top bar opens a chat with the support team. Email support@fawna.ai for non-urgent issues.
How do I request a feature?
Feature requests go to feedback@fawna.ai. We read every message and track themes across requests. No promises on timing, but patterns across user feedback drive the roadmap.
