Library
The Library panel is the Editor's asset browser. Every image, video, audio clip, text layer, and timeline lives here. Clips on the timeline are references to Library assets, so your asset store and your project files are one and the same.
What's in the library
The Library grid shows tiles for every asset in the current storyboard. Each tile has a thumbnail, a name, and a kind icon in the corner. Hovering any tile shows a quick preview in the Preview panel.
Asset kinds:
- Image: still image.
- Video: motion video clip with its own duration.
- Audio: narration, music, or SFX audio file.
- Text: text layer with a string of text content, for overlays.
- Folder: container for other assets. Used to organize.
- Timeline: a separate Editor project for the same storyboard.
Search and filters
A search bar at the top of the Library matches asset names case-insensitively. Type to narrow the grid.
Filter chips below the search:
- Kind: All, Images, Videos, Audio, Text.
- Origin: All, Generated (from Fawna models), Uploaded (dragged in from your machine).
Folders
Right-click in empty library space and pick New folder. Give it a name. Drag assets onto a folder tile to move them in. Folders support nesting.
Breadcrumbs above the grid show your current path. Click any crumb to jump up. Dragging an asset or folder onto a breadcrumb moves it up the hierarchy.
Suggested folder patterns for bigger projects:
- Characters: one folder per character with their face refs and scene generations.
- B-roll: external footage, uploaded stock.
- Music: all beds and score cues.
- SFX: short effect clips.
Dragging to the timeline
Drag any asset tile onto a track in the Timeline panel. The cursor ghost shows a preview of where the clip will land; release to drop. Matching rules:
- Video, image, text assets go onto video tracks (V1 or any overlay track above it).
- Audio assets go onto audio tracks.
- Dropping on an occupied region displaces neighbouring clips to make room.
Previewing an asset
Click a tile to load it in the Preview panel. Videos play, audio plays, images display. Right-click in the Preview panel or the Library to close the asset preview and return to the timeline view.
Asset context menu
Right-click any tile to get:
- Open: load in preview.
- Open in new tab: direct URL.
- Copy: adds to the library clipboard. Pasting it in another folder creates a link.
- Duplicate: creates an independent copy.
- Rename: inline rename.
- Move to Assets/: move up to the storyboard root.
- Download: save the file to your machine.
- Delete: remove the asset. Only permitted on uploaded assets, not generated ones.
Uploading assets
Right-click empty library space and pick Upload asset. Drag files from your filesystem onto the Library (anywhere in the panel) to upload in bulk. Supported types: PNG, JPG, WebP (images); MP4, MOV, WebM (videos); MP3, WAV, M4A (audio).
Generating new assets inside the library
Right-click empty library space and pick Generate new. Opens the AI Gen panel with the new asset queued. Choose model, settings, and prompt. The finished asset appears in the current folder.
This is the most direct path to getting B-roll or specific shots without leaving the Editor.
Multiple timelines per storyboard
Timelines are also Library items. Open a timeline by double-clicking its tile. Create a new timeline from the context menu; set one as the "default timeline" (the one that opens first when you revisit the project).
Use multiple timelines to keep:
- Different aspect ratio cuts (16:9 for YouTube, 9:16 for Shorts).
- A working draft and a clean final.
- Alternative edits for A/B comparison.
Where to go next
- Preview player for playback details.
- Keyboard shortcuts for moving around fast.
